Larry Carpenter

April 12th, 2011

6:00 p.m.

Our guest speaker is our own member Larry Carpenter.

Larry is a charter member of the aviation club.  He holds degrees in geology, secondary education and counseling from Kent State University.   Presently he is also a member of the EP Police Auxiliary, spending time working in the property and evidence room.  He is a 37 year resident of Estes Park and a 20 plus year aviation researcher.

Larry's program will attempt to show the personal satisfaction to be gained from contacts with the families of the men and women who lost their lives in both military and civilian plane crashes in the area.  Attendees will learn clues used to ID crash sites and types of aircraft, etc and be able to view copies of accident reports, research books used, and also be introduced to pertinent websites.

Let's see if Larry can make an aviation archaeologist out of everyone in one evening.

Larry and wife VI have been married for 57 years.  Vi wore out her original set of knees following Larry on remote searches anywhere from the eastern plains of Colorado to 12,000 foot peaks.  She is now ready to begin hiking on her new set of knees.
